I’ve been contacted by users all over the world who are using SketchAndCalc™ in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Some of the more unusual uses have been:
A group of Australian hospitals performed a medical study to compare skin ulcer healing rates, and arrive at the optimal treatment strategy.
An electronics engineer needed to calculate the area of silicon in nanometers.
A spinal surgeon needed to compare the length of the posterior longitudinal ligament when in flexion, neutral, and extension positions.

I am trying to calculate the area of a bone from CT scan with this method –
Volumetric analysis of the bicondylar distal femur was performed from the most proximal margin of the bone flap donor site to the most distal articular surface. Each 3-mm axial image was analyzed and a cross-sectional area traced for both the flap donor site and for the flap donor site plus the whole section of distal femur. From these data, a ratio was established comparing the volume of excised donor bone to the preoperative volume of the distal condylar femur.
I can use this helpful device to calculate projected areas on a map and then compare that to the actual area of a land mass.

We wanted to verify the portion of the oil allocated to our unit, and the formula was based on the production zone thickness times the porosity. That was 60% of the total weight, so it was important. Using your tool and an isopach map showing porosity we were easily able do to the calculations. The tool was excellent as were the tutorials. This is a great product that I would recommend to others who want to find areas that are shown on map.
It helps me to calculate area of my private land. I use it for calculating perimeters, areas of paths, lawns, porches etc. I also use it for calculating multiple areas inside the house.

SketchAndCalc is helping me in getting the area of each section bounded by multiple line segments on a plot of sinusoidal curves where the amplitude and number of cycles are changing.
I used it to calculate a floor plan on a boat. In order for us to register a boat for 12 passengers, We have to have at least 6m of unobstructed floor in the boat’s interior.

I study irregular shaped defects on materials. This program helps me estimate an area by drawing the irregular shape of fractured specimens after tensile testing was made.

Yeah, is very useful, has had to calculate the size of the areas that were affected by crystalline materials that have been chemically attacked by various agents, the result of the dislocations is an observation of the behavior of nature at different scales: macro and micro.
